Pottery
The baking time of the clay in the oven is between 9 and 11 hours and the temperature has to be, by eye, between 900 and 1,000 degrees. The dishes are stacked one over the other, matching edges, so they do not twist. The clay is dried in the sun to remove excess mud. When put in the oven, the dishes are kept separate in order to keep them from sticking together. From the raw clay until the piece is sold it passes 32 times through the hands of the potter. The potter uses kaolin, cobalt blue and gray paint, which is the base color. The figures are usually strips or spots.
