The Potato Market, Mercado de la patata, was built on the site of the medieval quay "Long Dock", in 1843. The association of heritage conservation and historic monuments,the Limerick Civic Trust, renewed the market in 1980. There's now a craft market and a place for cultural works beside the River Abbey. The train tracks that the freight trains use to access the market are still visible, that take the potatoes to the rest of the country. From the shopping centers you can see Sylvester O'Halloran pedestrian bridge built in memory of the famous surgeon. The bridge makes the King's Island market
