Posada la Tebaida

It’s in an excellent location to get to know Cantabria. The house blends classic good taste with modern decor. The rooms and bathrooms are very well-kept and spotless. It was more like being in a 5-star hotel than a country house.

As aside note, they also serve exceptional breakfasts and dinners. They don't serve lunch but we weren't in the house ever at lunch time anyways. And the icing on the cake was our wonderful host, Ana, a delightful woman from Castilla La Mancha who treated us like family.

La Thebaid is located in Susvilla, a small hamlet in Cantabria near the village of Villacarriedo in the Pas Valley. Although it's only a mile from the main road, you feel like you're way out in the countryside in the middle of absolute tranquility and beautiful views across the meadows.

The inn's building is fully renovated but still maintains the details of yesteryear, such as the locks on the doors, shutters, and hardwood accents. But, at the same time, it's very modern...so, for example, the floor doesn't creak when walking and the windows are perfectly insulated.

The rooms, all doubles (70-75-80€, depending on season), are spacious and brightly decorated in a rural fashion without ever being gaudy. They come with a balcony for enjoying the Cantabrian weather, although there is a small fee (5€). Of course, all the rooms are different in terms of decoration, but each one is just as comfortable as the next. The bathroom is also very spacious and accommodating. It has a massaging shower head and a complimentary bottle of soap. A small shelf in the shower would have been useful, though.
