Port of Patras

Patras is the third largest city in Greece and has a certain charm, though it is not renowned for its beauty, as it is a very industrial city. The most beautiful places of this city are its kastro, which is very well preserved and admission is free, and its port. The port of Patras is a real hive of people, cars and of course, boats. Patras is the main Greek port for ferries to Italy. The first thing you feel when you get to this port is vertigo. It is impressively large and there are hundreds of boats. It is the first time I had seen so many boats over 10 stories high in one place! There are so many people that it is very easy to find cafes and restaurants.

Threre are people everywhere looking to buy tickets for the ferries. It is a place of contrasts - the bustle of the harbor and the tranquility of the sea. It is a place of mixed feelings.
