Spectacular points along the French coast

Finding ourselves in one of the most spectacular points of the French coast, specifically in Finistère at the western end of the Cornuaille peninsula. It's the most Western point in France, also one of the most visited. Located opposite the island of Sein, this place was chosen by many famous writers in the 19th Century, which converted it into a great tourist attraction, causing a lot of damage to the environment. Thanks to the French government's and its recovery plan for the area, some existing buildings were demolished and in turn, the damage they did to the surrounding area demolished with them.

It's now a specially protected area, with lots of rules in place in order to preserve the surrounding environment. A large car park and a number of shops and restaurants wait your arrival here, although at the time of year we visited they were basically empty. Following the directions along the way, 20 minutes later we reached the pier. Waves crashing against the cliffs, and a huge lighthouse and monument to Notre Dame de Naufragés invite you to sit on the rocks and look over the majesty of the area.

Most westernpoint in Europe

The westernmost point in Europe is the Pointe du Raz. This wild and amazing scenery attracts visitors every summer. Between steep cliffs and a green ocean, on a clear day when you look at the island of Sein Atlantic and Ar Men a lighthouse appears by magic. The Pointe du Raz is classified as National Spot and rises to 70 m in height. La Punta, sculpted by the ocean is the meeting point of the winds. You have to make yourself strong because it blows with force. In this place stands the lighthouse islet Square Vielle. For many years this place was feared by sailors, but now hikers, surfers and lovers of contemplation use its charm for sports and meditation.

There is a marked and protected path that follows the edge of the cliffs. In the Bay of the Dead, the curious and fearless can go up the northern slope of the Plogoff Enfer, where according to legend the princess Dahut waged lovers throwing a narrow cliff beaten by the waves. What a nice girl ...!

Westernmost point of Brittany

We went to "Pointe du Raz" (in Finisterre), the westernmost cape of Brittany and France. It's spectacular, I almost reached the Cape Point but the walk is quite dangerous and the fall ...well, I'm sure you can imagine. So, almost there, I came back. Take care, the outdoor parking was six euros (the most expensive we've found so far). Although you are almost at the end of France you can find little shops, bars, creperies ... However we opted to eat a picnic.
