Plaza Kossuth Lájos

La Plaza Kossuth Lájos (“Kossuth Lájos tér” en idioma húngaro) se encuentra dentro de los límites del casco histórico de la ciudad de Gyöngyös, a unos 35 kilómetros de distancia de Budapest. Se trata de un espacio al aire libre en el que se ha erigido el monumento más grande de toda la ciudad, dedicado al célebre presidente húngaro Lájos Kossuth. El monumento a Kossuth Lájos es un hemiciclo en cuyo centro se alza una estatua de tamaño real del presidente Kossuth. A sus costados se puede leer la frase “Forradalom és Szabadságharc” (“Revolución y Guerra por la Libertad”), además de los años 1848-1849, durante los cuales tuvo lugar la Revolución Húngara de 1848 en contra del dominio del Imperio de los Habsburgo. Para llegar a la plaza desde el casco histórico, lo más sencillo es caminar por la avenida Kossuth Lájos hacia el este. Justo después de pasar el “Mátra Múzeum”, tendrás el monumento a tu costado derecho.

Kossuth Lájos Square ("Kossuth Lájos tér" in the Hungarian language) is located within the boundaries of the historical center of the city of Gyöngyös, about 35 kilometers away from Budapest. It is an outdoor space in which the largest monument in the whole city, dedicated to the famous Hungarian President Lájos Kossuth, has been erected. The monument to Kossuth Lajos is a hemicycle in the center of which stands a life-size statue of President Kossuth. On their sides you can read the phrase "Forradalom és Szabadságharc" ("Revolution and War for Freedom"), in addition to the years 1848-1849, during which the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 took place against the rule of the Empire of the Habsburg. To get to the square from the historic center, the simplest thing is to walk along Kossuth Lájos avenue to the east. Just after passing the "Mátra Múzeum", you will have the monument on your right side.
