Solitude in nature
This is one of the most famous and photographed beaches of all Islay. It's a meeting of dunes, rivers, sea views (almost always in a pretty rough, wild state on this part of the island) and fine white sand. It's a beautiful and ideal pleace for a walk in the countryside. Don't forget your coat, though, as the winds are biting! This beach is just over two miles long and signs prohibit swimming because of the very strong currents in the area. Not far from it there is a giant swirl of water, off the coast of Jura illustrating the force of the sea at this location. For those like me who appreciate solitude in nature, this beach is an ideal destination.
