The best part of the day
After an early start to go to the river market of the Mekong River Delta in Vinh Long, and when the sun was almost unbearable due to heat and humidity, we stopped at a house on the same bank as of one of the delta's channels. The house was inhabited by a family that operated a restaurant, with its signature dish "elephant ear fish". A freshwater fish, with a "fronted" somewhat peculiar and even stranger flavor. Before we sat down and while the table was prepared, we walked around the garden, which looked more like a small zoo, with a snake cage included. As we sat at the table, and were "presiding over" the fish, skewered and kind of grilled, with various side dishes, vegetables, thin rice cakes and almost transparent rolls.
