The lunar landscape is spectacular

This is a long and demanding walk but the lunar landscape is spectacular. Ensure you are equipped with hiking boots, a map, warm clothes, food and at least a litre of water (hiking poles are also useful).

Take the cable car from San Martino di Castrozza up to Ristorante Rosetta. Note the time of the last descent. From here it is a short walk to Rifugio Rosetta. If you are not a big walker treat yourself to strudel and coffee and just enjoy the views.
From the Rifugio, follow track 707 towards Forcella del Miel. Red and white marks on the rocks mark the trail. From the Forcella you descend into the only grassy part of the walk.

This is a good spot for lunch. At Passo Canali switch to the 708 for the return journey. There is now a steep climb on a narrow path with minor scrambling. Pass beneath the remainder of a glacier. At Passo Paradisali Basso change onto the 709 for a short section before rejoining the 707.
