1 review of Pizzeria Il Teatro

A classic Italian restaurant

Located near the Piazza and the Chuch of Santa Croce, in the old part of Florence, Il Teatro is a pizzeria in a historic building opposite the Teatro Verdi. It is stylishly decorated following, as its name suggests, a theatrical theme, with photos and memorabilia from the arts. There are two rooms, each air-conditioned and with its own entrance. In summer it also has a terrace, with a sort of platform on the street, with umbrellas. The tables and chairs are wooden, simple and classic, but the decor is otherwise quite modern. The bathrooms have an interesting location, down a flight of stairs that seem to lead to a series of catacombs.

We had spaghetti with pesto, then a main course of meat, then dessert, with a house wine. The spaghetti and pesto was fantastic, while the meat - a kind of steak - was good, but not spectacular. I can't comment on the other dishes, but the menu did seem quite long and varied, with plenty of pasta and pizza (they have an authentic stone oven). The owner and the waitresses fit the stereotype of typical Italian women, with great flair. In summary, an authentic restaurant, classic, traditional, an old-fashioned Italian with a modern air, decorated with theatrical motifs, in which you eat well, and above all, in a great location.
