Pittencrieff Park

Near the ruins of the palace and abbey, are the gardens of Pittencrieff, the main recreation area and place to walk in the historic town of Dunfermline. It was founded in 1902 by Andrew Carnegie, one of the most influential men of the time and from this area. Today it is a beautiful park that has historic buildings such as the military museum, the John Forbes Museum. There is an old locomotive, bridges, fountains and various animals that make the ride even more enjoyable. The park and gardens cover spaces belonging to the palace and the abbey, which explains their contents, size and importance to the locals, who often go there to enjoy the park, when the weather permits, especially with their children.
