Walking with Penguins
Piratour is the only Ushuaia tourism company that will take you walking among penguins. The tour starts at Port Ushuaia, to get to the Harberton Ranch, which was founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges, it should be about 90 km, by van, a stop is made to observe the amazing landscape. On the boat it takes about minutes to Martillo Island, which is home to penguins from September to April. We were lucky to see the chicks! The walk takes about an hour, and the guide explains the species found, their characteristics and customs. Back from the trip, 30 minutes to the ranch, I recommend their Maritime Museum, wthe guided tour is very interesting.
The tour is not cheap but is worth it, keep in mind that prices in Argentina vary widely, so there is no reference, I recommend you send an email and ask about prices. The tour does not include entrance to the ranch, the money from the tours is invested in maintaining the ranch and marine research.
