Pirâmides do Passeio Público

Uma das últimas obras realizadas pelo Mestre Valentim, as Pirâmides do Passeio Público, foram construídas no início do século XIX e faziam parte do traçado original do parque. Quando a obra iniciou naquela região, o Passeio ainda se esboçava e as pirâmides triangulares foram erguidas em granito branco como uma lembrança do Rio antigo (tanto que nas mesmas estão as inscrições: À saudade do Rio e Ao amor do público). Portanto, as pirâmides podem ser consideradas sobreviventes e marco de uma das primeiras obras de urbanização da capital carioca.

One of the last works made by Mestre Valentim, the walking public Pyramids, were built at the beginning of the nineteenth century and were part of the original traado the park.
