Piazza Torre di Berta

E' una delle piazze più note della città, il cuore di Sansepolcro. Ci si arriva percorrendo il corso XX Settembre, anche se la piazza dà accesso su quattro strade, una delle quali dove sorge il Duomo. Piazza Torre di Berta ha negozi, bar, gelaterie ed uffici. La piazza di per sé è spoglia e questo è significativo: un tempo qui sorgeva infatti la famosa Torre di Berta (XII secolo), distrutta poi durante la seconda guerra mondiale. La piazza in seguito prese il nome della torre, a ricordo del simbolo cittadino. Purtroppo tutti i tentativi di ricostruire la torre non sono andati a buon fine. La piazza ospita tantissimi eventi durante l'anno, tra cui il famoso Palio della Balestra, ma anche concerti, spettacoli, sfilate di moda, mercatini e mostre dell'artigianato.

Piazza di Berta Tower has shops, bars, ice cream shops and offices. The square by itself bare and this significant: once stood here in fact the famous Tower of Berta (XII century), then destroyed during the Second World War. The square later took the name of the tower, to commemorate the city's symbol. Unfortunately all attempts to rebuild the tower have not been successful. The square hosts many events throughout the year, including the famous Palio della Balestra, but also concerts, performances, fashion shows, flea markets and craft shows.
