Piazza Cairoli

Uno dei posti più conosciuti della città di Brindisi è sicuramente piazza Cairoli, dove domina la famosa Fontana delle Ancore. La piazza si trova alla fine di Corso Umberto e in molti periodi dell'anno qui vengono collocate numerose bancarelle di prodotti locali e gadget natalizi e non. Questa fontana fu inaugurata nel 1937 ed è caratterizzata da quattro ancore da cui prende il nome. Le ancore, per come sono state posizionate nella costruzione della fontana, vanno a rappresentare la rosa dei venti. In precedenza in questa stessa piazza si trovava la Fontana delle Rane risalente al 1921 e all'epoca in questa stessa piazza aveva sede il Teatro Verdi, che ora è stato demolito e spostato in Via Santi, nei pressi del Duomo.

One of the most known places of the city of Brindisi surely Cairoli square, dominated by the famous Fountain of the Anchors.
