Petreas Waterfalls
The Petreas Waterfalls are located in the heart of a steep mountain range, 17 kilometers from Oaxaca Mitla. They are fossilized stone formations with effervescent water, with a temperature of between 22 ° and 25 ° Celsius and it appears to boil. It was a sacred site for the ancient Zapotecs and allow us to study aspects of their culture and their way of life. A complex irrigation system was built here more than 2500 years ago. It is unique in Mexico and there are still significant traces of it.
