Peksow Brzyzek Cemetery in Zakopane

The oldest cemetery in Zakopane is charming in style. Writers, artists, mountaineers and other distinguised people have been buried here. There is also a memorial tomb that commemorated the thousands of soldiers killed in Katyn in 1940. The tombs have a folkloric style typical of the Tatras and are mostly wooden with sculptures of christ crosses. Behind them sits the highest and most famous Polish mountains, the Tatras. The church that is next to it is great from both outside and inside. Everything is wooden-the floor, the roof, the crucifixes, etc.
