Parque Heydar Aliyev

Ubicado a menos de un kilómetro de distancia del casco histórico de Bakú, el Parque Heydar Aliyev (“Heydər Əliyev Parkı” en idioma azerí) es principalmente conocido por el antiguo edificio de la era soviética que actualmente alberga el segundo complejo artístico más importante de Azerbaiyán. Después de su construcción, el edificio fue bautizado como “Palacio Lenin”. Sin embargo, éste fue renombrado como “Palacio de la República” en 1991, y como “Palacio Heydar Aliyev” después de la muerte de este presidente azerí. En la actualidad, tanto el edificio como el parque son utilizados durante eventos artísticos y culturales. Después de ser restaurado por completo entre los años 2007 y 2008, el sitio albergó un concierto de Zeynab Khanlarova. Si bien el edificio ha quedado un poco a la sombra del recién inaugurado Centro Cultural Heydar Aliyev (sí, lleva el mismo nombre), éste se conserva también como testigo del pasado soviético de Azerbaiyán.

Located less than a kilometer away from the historic center of Baku, the Heydar Aliyev Park ("Heydər Əliyev Parkı" in the Azeri language) is mainly known for the old Soviet-era building that currently houses the second most important artistic complex in Azerbaijan . After its construction, the building was baptized as "Lenin Palace". However, it was renamed "Palace of the Republic" in 1991, and as "Heydar Aliyev Palace" after the death of this Azeri president. At present, both the building and the park are used during artistic and cultural events. After being completely restored between 2007 and 2008, the site hosted a concert by Zeynab Khanlarova. Although the building has remained a bit in the shadow of the newly opened Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center (yes, it has the same name), it is also preserved as a witness to the Soviet past of Azerbaijan.
