Mother Church of Póvoa
The Mother Church of Póvoa is a Property of Public Interest and is the oldest, and most significant, temple in the city, marking the consolidation of population growth at the time. It's a baroque, eighteenth century church and with rich interior ornamentation, multiple altars, gilded carved altarpieces and the main altar is preceded by a triumphal arch. This is composed of a large oil painting which represents the Immaculate Conception (patron of the city) framed by twisted columns.
