Park that was the private garden of the Palace of Arbelaiz
This park was designed in the 60s by the Sr.Basterretxea. What was the private garden of the Palace of Arbelaiz, became a park with swings and place to take a walk. Probably most striking was the steamroller, where the kids could spend hours and hours. Over the years, the roller was taken out but it was painted and placed in the center of a roundabout. Many memories! It was closed to the public for a year, when it was used to make a major renovation and fill trails (paved), new games and even exercise equipment to do the elderly. It is close to: Roman Museum Oiasso Arbelaiz Palace, town hall, church Juncal, the mythical pediment Uranzu, Urdanibia Square (known as "Mosku") where the weekly market is held ...
For a time, on the weekend they had activities for kids, but to my knowledge they were canceled. It is a wet and gloomy park in winter and scorching in summer. For my taste is not very well used and not quite sure I see: Lots of stairs, much asphalt, very hollow, very difficult ... My kids prefer the park Hendaye (about 2 miles) has fewer yards but is very well used, fenced, near the bike path, the skate, bike ramps, a nice playground and ... great views of the bay!
