Lovely orange garden

At the lookout on top of Mount Aventine, near St. Mary in Cosmedin (and the Bocca della Verita) there's a lovely garden with orange trees and a gazebo where you can see the dome of the St. Peter’s Basilica. It's also close to the park known as "buco" or “hole,” and nearby in the Piazza

Dei Cavalieri di Malta there's a metal door where you can look through the keyhole and see a garden and the back of the dome of the Vatican.

Rome’s best kept secret

Leaving the Circus Maximus and hiking up the hill, you'll arrive at an orange grove that is also one of the best viewpoints of the city. You can see almost all of Rome's famous domes and the famous Trastevere neighborhood is front and center. It's a very romantic place to sit on a bench and watch the sunset. There are concerts and other activities during summer. It's a haven of peace from the chaotic heart of Rome.
