Parador de Ubeda

Espectacular la plaza donde se encuentra, la profesionalidad de su personal (creo recordar que Cristobal es el nombre del encantador y servicial recepcionista que nos atendió al llegar, gracias por su amabilidad), y el edificio que alberga este parador. Tomar una copa en el patio y dormir en un emplazamiento como este es un privilegio, aunque la habitación resulte un tanto monacal. El desayuno tan abundante y de calidad como en todos los establecimientos de la red.

Spectacular is the place where, the professionalism of its staff (I think that is the name Cristobal charming and helpful receptionist who greeted us on arrival, thank you kindly), and the building that houses this hostel. Ubicado en pleno centro histórico de una ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad -de hecho es difícil llegar en coche- éste es uno de los ocho Paradores Museo de la Red. Es una joya ampliamente conocida por las fotografías de su claustro. Merece la pena reservar las habitaciones superiores que, por poco dinero, nos ofrece, o bien vistas a la plaza, o bien -como hicimos nosotros debido al calor reinante- con acceso a un patio-jardín interior semi privado (acceso sólo a tres habitaciones) con fuente muy agradable y refrescante. El personal a la altura de Paradores y el restaurante en comentario aparte.

Located in the historic center of a World Heritage city-indeed it is difficult to reach by car- this is one of the eight Paradores Museum Network. Worth booking the superior rooms, for little money, offers, or overlooking the square, or like we did due to heat reinante- with access to a semi-private patio garden inside (only access to three bedrooms) with very nice and refreshing fountain. En el centro urbano de Úbeda se halla uno de sus edificios más importantes, un palacio renacentista del siglo XVI que es desde 1930 Parador Nacional, uno de los primeros. En lugar tan señero era natural que el propietario del Palacio fuese alguien muy importante. El nombre del parador es Condestable Davalos, el aristócrata más importante de Castilla en el siglo XIV, que reunió una gran fortuna como valido de los reyes Enrique III y Juan II, hasta que cayó en desgracia y sus posesiones fueron demolidas. El Parador nos recuerda aquella historia, origen del actual palacete. Aunque la fisonomía actual pertenece a una segunda etapa, cuando en 1550 Fernando Ortega, dean de la catedral de Málaga y capellán mayor de la Sacra Capilla del Salvador, encarga a Andrés de Vandelvira la construcción de este imponente palacio sobre las ruinas existentes. Planta rectangular, con un patio central, dos fachadas en ángulo. La principal con dos cuerpos, el inferior con vanos adintelados rematados por frontón y una entrada flanqueada por columnas dóricas y unos ángeles que portan el escudo de armas del fundador. La parte superior tiene balcones simétricos con las ventanas inferiores, con molduras y cornisa almohadillada rematada por frontones curvos. Siguiendo la moda manierista en las esquinas de la parte superior hay dos ventanas sobre mármol blanco, rompiendo la simetría del diseño. La otra fachada es similar, aunque fue más respetada por las reformas del siglo XVII y las ventanas son cuadradas con grandes molduras de arco invertido. El patio responde a la tipología de patios manieristas de Úbeda, con columnas de tipo nazarita. Doble arcada de 16 pilares, la superior acristalada. La escalera nobiliaria da paso al corredor superior donde se encuentran las habitaciones de los clientes. Las habitaciones destacan por su tamaño. Es un auténtico lujo alojarse en este Palacio. Techos altísimos, mucho espacio y mobiliario artesanal. La cuarta parte de las habitaciones tiene vistas a la plaza, al estar situadas en la parte delantera del patio. Conviene recordar que 6 habitaciones dan a la calle a la hora de solicitar la reserva. Están totalmente equipadas, camas tamaño king size, televisor de plasma, caja fuerte, aire acondicionado, minibar, carta de almohadas, plancha, etc. Además de las 24 habitaciones dobles, hay 10 dobles especiales y 2 suites. La doble sale por unos 160 euros, la especial 20 euros más, la suite 240 euros. El Parador tiene sala de reuniones con capacidad para 70 personas. Su restaurante es uno de los más reputados de la ciudad, sale por unos 32 euros por persona, el desayuno por unos 17. No es un hotel barato, quien se aloja aquí no lo hace buscando ahorrar un euro. Se trata del Palacio del aristócrata más importante de Castilla, convertido en residencia manierista del deán de la catedral. Un edificio del siglo XVI donde los clientes se sienten tratados como reyes. En todo el centro histórico, sólo para clientes con ganas de disfrutar de lo mejor. En nuestro caso un regalo de mi empresa al cumplir los 25 años de servicio. Me dieron a elegir un Parador Nacional en Andalucía y me tiré de cabeza a por éste, por la calidad del mismo, por su profesionalidad y por su ubicación. ¡Ojalá algún día llegue a los 50 años de servicio y me vuelvan a hacer tan impresionante regalo! Este Parador se lo merece, es un auténtico lujo.

El parador de Úbeda se encuentra en la plaza renacentista, junto a los edificios más bellos de la ciudad. Levantado sobre un antiguo palacio construido en el XVI y reformado en los siguientes años, perteneció al deán de la de la Sacra Capilla de El Salvador. Sus habitaciones son acogedoras y cómodas, con techos altos. Destacan las seis que dan a la plaza y la suite, desde donde se puede ver una impresionante panorámica de la Plaza de Vázquez de Molina. Además, el comedor está decorado con platos y detalles andaluces.
