guanche
sells typically Greek products
This Greek food shop is on Tripodon street in Plaka. It is easily recognizable as it's Plakas' busiest street, perhaps the most touristy. It is a must for those who want to see Acropolis on foot. It's in a corner with numerous neon signs in their windows and doors. It mainly sells typically Greek products, but also Mediterranean and more continental food (French cheese). I was amused to see a Revilla chorizo on a shelf; I'm sure a tourist would have been led to believe that they would taste authentic Greek pork ... The products that occupy the most space are many shelves of bottles of Ouzo, Retsina and other Greek liquors.
The Loukoums, the nougat, figs and nuts also occupied a lot of space. In the refrigerated area you can found the ubiquitous chilled feta and vacuum fish and canned seafood. The prices are higher than in the supermarkets, but the positive side is that the store is always open, and if you want to take away memories or a gastronomic tidbit, the shop will be waiting to meet your needs.
