Palazzo Donati

Palazzo Donati prende il suo nome dalla famiglia Donati e fu costruito nel Cinquecento; accanto si trova una torre che porta lo stesso nome. Il palazzo si presume sia stato costruito dal Buontalenti, ma non si hanno notizie certe. Sicuramente la facciata mostra elementi cinquecenteschi ancora ora visibili. La torre prima appartenuta a Gemma Donati, passò agli Albizi, che fecero costruire il palazzo così come si vede adesso. La suddetta torre vede rivestimenti a filaretto di pietra e fu rifatta diverse volte e rialzata definitivamente nel 1931. Il portone ospita un busto in marmo di Cosimo II de Medici e un timpano semicircolare. Il palazzo e la torre ci portano sicuramente in un'altra epoca che vale la pena di conoscere.

Palazzo Donati takes its name from the Donati family and was built in the sixteenth century; next to it is a tower of the same name. The building is presumed to have been built by Buontalenti, but do not you have some news. Surely the sixteenth century façade shows elements still visible now.
