Palancar Beach

3 reviews of Palancar Beach

awesome "postcard" beach

This awesome "postcard" beach is located in the southwestern part of Cozumel island. Although many people associate it with the typical beach-club that are there, Playa Palancar is a free public beach. You have to take a detour to the right along an unpaved road that runs from the northern part of Cozumel to the South. You can leave the bike or car in a rental parking lot with a caretaker man who is very nice to you if you give him payment. Playa Palancar is a narrow, but long stretch of white sand and small pebbles that extends right across the coral reef of Cozumel. Although beach access is through the beach-club, I recommend taking a long walk along the beach and moving away from the beach club, where people tend to crowd around the bar or hammocks, etc.

Simply walk 100-200 meters to the side or the right, as then you will get a view of the sea and a house located on the beach. All around you is Heaven: green palms, white sand, blue waters, and colors, especially the panorama you'll see if you stand under a palm tree at the seaside. As you'll see, this beach offers those typical postcard photos we like to see. Given the proximity of the coral reef, it's an ideal place for snorkeling, and you'll see fish of different varieties and colors. Of course, what caught my attention on this beach were some areas of the bank and a stretch of the inlet water that seemed a veritable graveyard of shells, shells, and all kinds of shellfish. There were thousands, each more bigger, more beautiful, or rarer than the last. This was our first stop on our motorbike ride in Cozumel; we took our first break and dip here at this idyllic beach, where we were able to take these "postcard" pictures. This will always be recorded among the other Cozumel sites as a wild and spectacular island, unspoilt and not too crowded.
