A unique little building
Of all the buildings in the city of Porto, this is one of the most beautiful and least known. Located in the suburbs, it is a bit away from the tourist track, and is part of a hotel group Pousadas de Portugal. It was built in the mid-eighteenth century, commissioned by a knight of the Order of Malta, and designed by Italian architect Nasoni Nicols, who spent much of his career in this Portuguese city. Located on the banks of the Duero, the palace has some magnificent views from the top. It is a rectangular building with four towers (one per corner) and contrasted tones in white plaster and grey stone.
