An amazing place
This is an amazing place with Rococo façade, Renaissance interior, and spacious rooms that are all very different. Both the rooms and the dining rooms are traditionally decorated and entering seems as if you are in another era.
We purchased the room through a travel agency and buffet breakfast was included. You won’t go hungry, I can assure you. They have a website with deals, but I’d recommend looking at either the agencies or their own personal website.
Dinner and lunch are also available in the hotel itself, but we chose to eat out since the hotel restaurant was only a la carte, expensive, and served extremely small portions.
We ate both nights in the town next door (Celaya) at a restaurant called El Español; there the plates are large and there’s a daily menu. I recommend the “cocido montañés” (mountain stew) and the local dishes.
You can also visit Santander, Santillana del Mar, the entire coastal area, Cabárceno, and Barcena Mayor (the oldest town in Spain). There is so much to see. Ah! I forgot...try the quesadas and sobaos (typical Pas Valley desserts). They make them in Celaya and they’re delicious.
