Cute farm stand with a lot of character
The Columbia River Gorge is one of America's largest pear growing regions, and prides itself in the abundance and quality of fruit it produces. The Hood River Fruit Loop is a self-guided 35 mile scenic loop, with stops at numerous farms, fruit stands, wineries, and vineyards to sample the bounty that Hood River County has to offer. Pick and choose your stops as you like, but Packer Orchards and Bakery (stop #13) is a wonderful place to check out. Specializing in jams and baked goods, it particularly appeals to the fruit lover with a sweet tooth. They offer in-season fruit (apples, pears, cherries, peaches, blueberries, apricots, and nectarines), baked goods like pies and cookies, and jams...so many jams....over 100 varieties! Many are set out for you to sample.
