Our Lady of la Vega Basilica

3 reviews of Our Lady of la Vega Basilica

Dedicated to the Patron of Haro

Dedicated to the patron saint of Haro, this basilica was supposedly built in the 10th century, after the image of the Virgen de la Vega arrived in the city. The present church, which is Baroque and has three naves, is the result of several expansions, the most recent one was done in the early 18th century. Inside, the Baroque altarpiece with the image of the Virgen de la Vega and the 14th century Gothic and Baroque style canvases are the highlights. The facade, in an arch, has pictures of San Pedro and San Pablo, and is topped by a belfry.
