Otavalo

In beautiful Ecuador you can find one of the best indigenous tribes that has adapted to the modern day lifestyle. We speak of Otavalo where the whole town is a great market to buy from a "flame" from things such as indigenous crafts of the area, right through to countless traditional foods and antiques. A few hours from Quito is the town of Otavalo which holds crafts fairs on Saturdays - the largest that I've ever seen. You can buy tablecloths, scarves, necklaces, wallets, paintings, sculptures, baskets, musical instruments and thousands more things. It's an explosion of color, as you can see from the photo, showing a friend of mine lost among the colorful scarves.
