Sibiu's Romanian Orthodox Cathedral was built between 1902 and 1906. We arrived on a weekday morning, and I was surprised by the number of people inside - but religion has an important role to play in the lives of many Romanians, some of whom go to church several times a week. In front of the church you can see the Orthodox theology institute where future priests study; they will later work all across the region of Transylvania. This is one of the most important religious centres of the Romanian Orthodox Church. It has a square layout, and was built by Hungarian architect Virgil Nagy. The interior wall is decorated with images of saints, as well as the arches of the main entrance.
