Impressive

Conceived by many as the best restaurant in Stockholm, Operakällaren has an exceptional location in the city's opera. Internationally recognized, it has won many awards and medals. The restaurant is in Norrmalm, across the bridge from Gamla Stan and the king's palace. Nowadays, it's prestige has waned a bit and, in general, when you ask the local Swedes, they'll tell you that it's not what it once was. It has 16 different brands of champagne. It's where elite opera artists, the city's cultural elite, come to dine. It's a very interesting place, but without excess luxury. You generally have to make reservations weeks in advance.

Tickets are 20 euros, main courses and desserts are 45 and 20, respectively. Restaurants are generally very expensive in Sweden, but this place is worth it. We went to a restaurant for 40 euros per person and were very disappointed, and for not much more, we could have eaten in this delightful restaurant! It prides itself on being a place where many stars arrive. It has an impressive list of all ve came to eat, from Eminem to Paris Hilton, up to the king or Pavarotti, Madonna and Schwarzenegger.
