Temples and festivities
The festive character of theses people, makes them celebrate any event, although the most common and celebrated in all the temples, is the ripple or Birthday of the Temple, a festival that takes place every 210 days, which are the days in the Balinese year that party that last for several days. During these celebrations there are cockfights, processions, offerings and thebtemples are decorated with flowers, umbrellas, banners and a lot of fruits and colorfully painted food offered to the gods. The Balinese move those foods to temples and once "filled" with the spirit and essence of the Gods, it is then taken home.
Two of the most sacred temples, and the ones when during the most important holidays thousands of pilgrims gather to lay their offerings to the gods, are the of Basakih and Tanahlot, and in the latter once a year there are various animal sacrifices to honor the spirits of the sea. I recommend visiting this place and experiencing its festivities and seeing the temples for yourself. You will love it.
