Old Town of Sigüenza

14 reviews of Old Town of Sigüenza

A magical walk through town

Walking through the old part of town in Sigüenza is quite an experience for the senses. You’ll feel the history of the city, a history that began in the Iron Ages and fully started thriving during the Spanish Middle Ages.

The city’s old quarters in the Henares river valley (also known as Sigüenza valley) is an account of its history, from the traces of Roman remains, to the times of Arab rule, the reconquest, the great guilds, and the Spanish Civil War. All of that history makes this place a magical enclave and a perfect place for a day trip or a full weekend trip (if you’re coming from the Madrid area).

Lose yourself in this town

Sigüenza is well worth visiting. It has everything that you’d want for an escape from everyday life. For weekends, long weekends, vacations, etc.

The historical quarters is a precious place that speaks for itself. It has so much history running through its cobble stone streets that it can be overwhelming. Classic buildings, precious arcades, historical facades, and surprising cathedrals, and just some of the many places that you’ll find while roaming through the streets of Sigüenza.
