A magical walk through town
Walking through the old part of town in Sigüenza is quite an experience for the senses. You’ll feel the history of the city, a history that began in the Iron Ages and fully started thriving during the Spanish Middle Ages.
The city’s old quarters in the Henares river valley (also known as Sigüenza valley) is an account of its history, from the traces of Roman remains, to the times of Arab rule, the reconquest, the great guilds, and the Spanish Civil War. All of that history makes this place a magical enclave and a perfect place for a day trip or a full weekend trip (if you’re coming from the Madrid area).
I recommend walking through the streets in the old quarters. Walk at a calm pace, enjoying each detail you see. You’ll discover something new at each corner. Use a little imagination and the stroll will become a magical experience.
