Old Town Hall
When you enter the old town of Salzburg, the narrow street of Getreidegasse widens and becomes the main commercial artery. You'll pass a building which may look like a church, but was in fact home to Salzburg's City Council for many years. The current council is located in the Mirabel Palace, so this one has been almost forgotten, and now just forms part of the scenery of the old town.
In the beginning, it was the house of a rich merchant in the city, but later, the city council acquired it, and used it for both legislative and judicial purposes, as can be seen by the statue of justice that adorns its entrance.
