The Old Harbor is where most ferries traveling to Block Island dock. It’s also a part of the most bustling section of the island, where the majority of shops and restaurants are concentrated and many hotels are located. In the summer, it’s crowded with tourists looking for souvenir sweatshirts and salt water taffy or browsing numerous art galleries and independent boutiques. It’s also the place to join the crowds eating and drinking at an old hotel, and watch people and boats go by.
From the harbor, you can rent a bicycle or moped or get a taxi, but you don’t need one to see a good portion of the island.
