Surfing in Voss
Who says you can't surf in Lake Voss? If you head to the end of the lake where it becomes a river, you'll find the legendary Bulken Wave. There's only one, but that doesn't mean the surfing is any less amazing! The Bulken Wave gets its name from a tiny local town near the Eiffel-style bridge. And although the size of the wave can vary, you can rest assured that it's always there.
The surfing is great (that is, if you can stand the water temperature) but it's very different to riding the waves in the ocean. That being said, surfing in the midst of the Norwegian countryside is worth it alone!
There's easy parking near the bridge and you can leave your car there without any fear of getting a ticket. The trail down to the wave is a little worse for wear, but it shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Unfortunately, it's not accessible for wheelchairs or baby carriages. Even if you're not a surfer, it's worth a visit. It's one of the most beautiful and unusual places I've ever seen!
