Encomendada pelo rei Luis I da Baviera após a demolição das fortificações da cidade no século 18, a praça tem aparência italiana, o que se deve muito à Feldherrnhalle, uma construção imponente com três arcos que é a cópia da Piazza della Signoria de Florença. Commissioned by King Louis I of Bavaria after the demolition of the city's fortifications in the 18th century, the square looks Italian, which owes much to Feldherrnhalle an imposing building with three arches which is the copy of the Piazza della Signoria in Florence. In recent history, the Odeonsplatz was marked by important events before and during World War II. The square was one of the favorite places of Hitler for his speeches. Before that, in 1923, it was there that Hitler clashed with police and was sent to prison, where he wrote Mein Kampf. Before that, in 1914, at a rally to celebrate the declaration of World War I, it was identified the figure of Hitler among the population. The ratio of the square this figure does not take away the beauty of the place worth visiting, even for its importance in the recent history of Munich.
