This complex opened in 2002 and is part of what is called The City of Arts and Sciences. It is the biggest marine park in Europe. We will find here the world’s different marine habitats and we will be able to observe more than 40,000 animals of 500 different species, from sea lions to sharks to penguins or spider crabs, as well as numerous sea birds. We will also enjoy diverse documentaries about marine life and a wonderful dolphin show. It is an ideal place to discover with your family, and a must stop if you decide to visit the city of Turia.

The most interesting and spectacular aquarium

Valencia’s Oceanográfico is located in the City of Arts and Sciences. It's the most interesting and fascinating “aquarium” I’ve ever seen in my life.

You can enjoy all types of activities here, there are different sections related to the marine world. Each will help you better understand the mysterious world under the sea.

They have a dolphin aquarium, as well as Arctic, Antarctic, Mediterranean and ocean habitats.

The dolphin aquarium has a gigantic pool that is surrounded by stands where 2,000 people sit to watch the shows. You'll realize the dolphins are much bigger than you’d expect after seeing them in person. They can be up to 4 meters long. The shows are truly fantastic.

The ocean area includes a glass tunnel where you can see all the animals living in the water. It’s really impressive to walk down this tunnel, it’s incredible to be immersed in their environment. You’ll feel a sense of claustrophobia, but that’s part of its charm.

In the Mediterranean section you can see over 7,000 different species that live in the waters. It has an aquarium of impressive proportions. It’s very well cared for, and worth a visit, although maybe it doesn’t receive the same amount of attention as the other parts of the complex.

I love the Antarctic area because you can see everyone’s favorite species, like penguins. You can really see the animals up close in this section.

They’ve truly created a remarkable marine area in this part of Valencia. It’s completely spectacular and I fully recommend it to everyone in the world. It’ll fascinate kids of all ages and they’ll love seeing the animals up close.

Great for kids

Valencia's Oceanográfico is a stupendous place. The kids love going to the aquarium and thoroughly enjoy the dolphin show, even my two year old. I recommend going with plenty of free time, as visiting the City of Arts and Sciences can't be rushed. The kids loved seeing the sharks and all the other colorful fish in the aquarium.
