Obersee Lake

A simple 10-minute walk connects Lake Obersee with its larger and more famous neighbor, Königssee in the Berchtesgaden National Park. This small mirror-like lake was once part of the same lake, but the movements of the Earth over millions of year helped isolated Obersee from its larger sibling, while adding an undeniable air of interest. At the beginning of the lake, you can enjoy one the best views of anywhere in the Bavarian Alps: the 400-meter high Röthbach waterfalls, the highest in Germany. I recommend going here early in the morning, taking the first boat, in this way you can avoid the crowds of people and you can enjoy this site as it deserves. After the walk to the other side of the lake, I recommend a good beer in the little cabin while admiring the scenery.
