Nuyumbalees Culture Centre

Tribal Totems is from the original inhabitants of Canada. Totems are one of the most interesting artistic events in North America, and it is what comes to mind as one thinks of the clichés of "Indians." But if there is a culture that has really taken this art to its peak it is the First Nations of the northeastern coast of the continent in the areas between southern Canada and Alaska. The visit to the cultural center Nuyumbalees in Quadra Island, is advisabl. They have an exhibition on the village Kwa 'Kwa' Ka 'Wa'Kw. The museum is tiny, and not overcrowded, and allows you to interact with people a little bit, see the artisans working with wood or just chat with people in the community.
