Impossible to still be hungry

Excellent

Great quality Ethiopian restaurant, very good service and very nice atmosphere.

As you can see on the pictures they have exotic food, which is very tasty. The restaurant is almost embedded in the Maravillas Theater, so the best plan after a play is to enjoy the very tasty Ethiopian food.

The other good point is the service. I am more and more convinced that each place offering good food, good drinks and a warm, attentive and nice service is a win.

We enjoyed 4 dishes, all of them delicious. From the delicious sanbussa (meat and vegetable pie) to the spicy dishes with lamb and good spices. All this always went with injera, some kind of pancake made of Ethiopian cereals. Moreover this "injera" will be the only cutlery you will have to put the food in your mouth. Remember, or learn if you did not know, that in Ethiopia you eat with your hands (if you ask for silveware they give it to you of course). If you like new experiences do not miss out on ordering the Ethiopian honey wine, a very peculiar taste. The second thing we tried was a dish called "fatira", some kind of egg dish with pasta tasting like pancake. Very nice to your palate by the way.

And in between the dishes some cold beer or Ethiopian wine...

Then came the main dishes. When I saw the great Ali (the owner) coming with that plate it looked mouth watering and my eyes were illuminated. It was the "doro wot", with chicken, cooked egg, fresh cheese and spicy stew. AMAZING!

And to finish (at that point we were already full), a lamb dish, rice (basmati?) and some kind of very soft and very tasty pita bread. Next time we will book the special tea ritual, I think it is worth it.

As you can see, it is impossible to still be hungry. The strange thing is that the price is not high at all, for some 20€ you can have a perfect dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ethopia in Malasaña

I went to Nuria restaurant just before Christmas and since it is close to my work I managed to convince some of my colleagues to go and have lunch there. We all loved it... The food and the service.

We ordered three starters and the famous injera, on which they put various types of food: braised chicken, cooked egg, fresh cheese, spinach, cooked potato and pumpkin, etc. You eat everything with your hands, and it is true that everything tastes better and it is funny! :-)

The owner explained that they make injera with Teff, an Ethiopian cereal, as they make it there in Ethiopia (it is suitable for people suffering from celiac disease)... In other Ethiopian restaurants they sometimes make it with wheat and it is not the same.

I went to Ethiopia last summer and I can assure you the food is authentic, only less spicy (for which I am grateful).

In the end, the owner invited us to a small bottle of Tej, a wine made with typical honey from the Lalibela area (at the North of the capital) and it is delicious. Do you remember the drink the Gods of Olympus drank at all times? Honey wine. Well that's it. There is no excuse, it has only 3º of alcohol.

We also decided to taste one of the desserts: almond and honey puff paste. Delicious, very delicate... Even if you share it it is worth trying.

Last, I should mention the pictures they decorated the restaurant with. They were taken by people traveling to Ethiopia and you can buy them. I actually decided to put mine. They are put for a month and, according to the owner, people buy quite some. I have to ask about the details one day.

Original food, quality and good service

If you want to enjoy good food, have a nice time in the best atmosphere and try something new, you definitely have to go to the Ethiopian Restaurant Nuria.

I went there thanks to a recommendation and I will try to go again to show something original to as many people as I can.

Located right in the center of Madrid, this restaurant offers a menu of exotic food. I personally recommend following the suggestions if you go for the first time, so that you try the best dishes.

In my case I had some delicious triangles filled with vegetables and meat and a dish with chicken, vegetables, egg, the injera, some kind of pancake also used as a kitchen tool since everything is adapted to the most Ethiopian style, you eat the food with your hands.

The owner of the restaurant is Ali, a very friendly gentleman. What makes it a success is the reasonable price of 20€ each. I recommend booking beforehand to get there calmly. But you have to go anyway!
