Really wonderful beach

Nungwi beach is located at the northern tip of Zanzibar and has over 20 dive spots and some really wonderful beach areas for relaxing. Nungwi itself is a village that has been famous for its shipbuilding (the ever-present dhows) for over 500 years. The fish auction on the beach is open to all who want to come by to purchase or just look on. I'd also suggest a visit to the lighthouse where there's a small aquarium filled with turtles. The variety of restaurants and bars offering affordable local food is outstanding.

The official language of Nungwi is Swahili and I'd recommend visiting the town to check out the tropical fruit markets and the local schools.

Nungwi Beach

Nungwi is a small fishing village in the north of Zanzibar, it is a real paradise with its beautiful sandy beaches with fine white sand and a turquoise sea, breathtaking sunsets and plenty of places to snorkel inpeace. Also the laughter of children playing in the waves at sunset reminds me of the nostalgia of a happy childhood.

FIshermen at Dawn in Zanzibar

Every morning, every day all year around, Matenwe fishermen village on the east coast of Zanzibar, take advantage of the high tide to take their boats to fish. Keep in mind that this part of the coast of Zanzibar is almost completely surrounded by a coral reef. While men go fishing, the women use to collect seaweed from the coast where it seems to be fairly traded. It is a fascinating and amazing. Without doubt the best things we could see in our stay at the Matemwe Bungalows.
