Non-Violence Day, a day for women
The day of non-violence is a Latin American initiative. They chose November 25 in memory of 3 sisters who were killed, Dominican activists for opposing the dictatorship of Trujillo. They discovered all they had suffered and the sisters became a symbol of the violence against women. In the year 1997 the European Union, declared November 25 the International Day against violence. In Lago Agrio, women's groups from the communities of the Amazon joined together, to see how they could fight in their remote towns against violence. Their husbands allow them to go to the meeting, which means they had made progress in their communities.
