Beautiful pyramid
It's certainly not the most famous Mayan pyramid, that would be Chichen Itza, but it's certainly the highest in the Yucatan peninsula, with its 120 steps and 42 m height. Nohoch Mul in Mayan means "Great Mound". It was built during the Early Classic period (200-600 AD), probably to commemorate the sacred power of the rulers of Coba and to serve as a final resting place for some of the members of that lineage.
