Neguev Desert
If you are going to Tel Aviv or are turning back from Eilat, you will certainly hit this amazing desert of the Beersheba road. The Negev Desert is located south of Israel. It occupies an area of about 13,000 km ², with inverted triangle shape whose apex is located in southern Eilat on the Red Sea coast. To the west borders the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt) and the East with the southern part of Jordan. The main city is Beer Sheva (200,000 inhabitants), located on the northern edge of the desert. Other major cities include Eilat, Dimona (the nuclear reactor), Mitzpe Ramon Crater and Rahat. In many ways, it is very much an inhospitable place.
Temperatures reach up to 50 degrees celsius and there are slate moors, glens and canyons ravaged by erosion with very few natural resources. This is a place that you will certainly be able to take lots of great pictures.
