The Palace of Fine Arts is situated next to Memorial Granma, in what used to be the Central Market. This building is one of the two that make up the National Museum of Cuba (the other is the Galician Art Center, in Central Park). The exhibition focuses on Cuban art and has 7,600 m2 spread over 8 areas and 24 rooms. It has over 1,200 paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings by local artists, from the 16th century to modern times. Entrance fee is 5 dollars. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 to 18.00, Sundays 10.00 to 14.00.

The National Museum of Fine Arts in...

The National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana is in itself a work of art. You can observe it around and even delight in the possible works of art on display outside, in view of all the people. The exhibitions are shown inside colonial Cuban art, through the vanguards of the early twentieth century and the art created since the last decade of the twentieth century. If you are a student, you may make you off to get in, although I was not so lucky ... The art and promoting art in Cuba is enviable, plus museums, in many Cuban cities (eg Trinidad)'s galleries the basement of the houses that display and offer for sale the works created by artists, or you may see them creating in situ.
