1 review of National Monument of Scotland

A historic memorial

The Scottish National Monument located on Calton Hill was built in memory of the Scots who died during the Napoleonic Wars. It was supposed to be a perfect replica of the Parthenon in Athens but was never finished after the builders ran out of money. It may well be better this way, as it seems more original. Sitting above you can see views across the sea and the New Town, and the other way across Old Town to Arthur's Seat.
