Leatherback Turtles
Ostional Refuge contains the second most important site of nesting leatherback turtles in Costa Rica. Located on the road (not paved and you have to cross rivers without bridges) linking Samara Tamarindo on the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rican Pacific, is a 200m strip of beach bounded on the north by Punta India and the mouth of the Rio Nosara on the south. It is recommended that you go in 4x4, especially if it is not the dry season.
