Tea time!
One of the customs that I love most about the British is tea time. Have a break during the afternoon, drink a cup of tea with milk and why not accompany it with some scones. During my visit to Carlisle, I had the opportunity to feel like a real lady, but I did not enjoy it quite the same way as they do ... Having spent the morning at the site of Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum, we had set out for Glasgow, but with our stomachs rumbling, we first found a place on the way that would provide some sustenance.
We found the Wallfoot Hotel, which has a tea room and also serves lunch. The hotel brought back memories of a horror film: on a side street, lonely, very old décor, customers apparently ... but with lovely gardens and a very friendly owner. I ordered a ham salad that I devoured in the blink of an eye. And for dessert, a tea with a blueberry scone. Lovely!
